It is home to the University of Texas at Dallas and the Telecom Corridor, with a high concentration of telecommunications companies. More than 5,000 businesses have operations within Richardson’s 28 square miles (73 km2), including many of the world’s largest telecommunications and networking companies, such as AT&T, Verizon, Cisco Systems, Samsung, ZTE, MetroPCS, Texas Instruments, Qorvo, and Fujitsu.[7][8] Richardson’s largest employment base is provided by the insurance industry, with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas’s headquarters, a regional hub for GEICO, regional offices for United Healthcare, and one of State Farm Insurance’s three national regional hubs located in the community.[9]

Settlers from Kentucky and Tennessee came to the Richardson area in the 1840s. Through the 1850s the settlement was located around the present-day site of Richland College. After the Civil War a railroad was built northwest of the original settlement, shifting the village’s center closer to the railroad. Richardson was chartered in 1873, and the town was named after the secretary of the Houston & Texas Central Railroad, Alfred S. Richardson.
In 1908, the Texas Electric Railway an electric railway known as the Interurban, connected Richardson to Denison, Waco, Corsicana and Dallas. In 1910 the population was approximately 600. A red brick schoolhouse was built in 1914 and is now the administrative office for the Richardson Independent School District. In 1924 the Red Brick Road, the present-day Greenville Avenue, was completed. The completion of the road brought increased traffic, population and property values. The town incorporated and elected a mayor in 1925. In 1940 the population was approximately 740.
After World War II the city experienced major increases in population, which stood at approximately 1,300 by 1950. Throughout the 1950s the city continued to see growth including the opening of the Collins Radio Richardson office, Central Expressway, a police department, shopping centers and many homes. Texas Instruments opened its offices in Dallas on the southern border of Richardson in 1956. This was followed by significant gains in land values, population and economic status. In the 1960s Richardson experienced additional growth including several new parks, facilities and the creation of the University of Texas at Dallas within the city limits. By 1972 the population was approximately 56,000. Residential growth continued through the 1970s and slowed in the 1980s. Commercial development increased throughout the 1980s. Richardson had a population of 74,840 according to the 1990 census. Population increases throughout the 1990s was primarily from development of the northeast part of the city. The city of Buckingham, after being completely surrounded by Richardson, was annexed into the city in 1996.

Currently, you will discover a debate happening whether you need to buy a long warranty right after the manufacturer’s warranty expires. Some experts say you should buy a long warranty for larger plus more expensive appliances while others suggest adhering to regular maintenance to keep the appliances running in good order. How will you decide whether you need to get a prolonged service warranty to shield your appliances following the manufacturer’s warranty expires? Please read on to learn why you should pay for an extended warranty when purchasing household appliances!

The latest surveys in electronic buying reveal that greater than 65% of consumers who shopped at brick-and-mortar stores stated that sales people was eager in selling an extended warranty in their mind. Alternatively, 78% of people that shopped online for consumer appliances stated that their checkout didn’t conclude without having a suggestion that they buy a prolonged warranty. Many experts believe that extended warranties are a wonderful idea for expensive appliances out there. If you opt to invest $800, $1,500 as well as $3,000 at home appliance, it is actually definitely worth getting a prolonged warranty with all the product. Most manufacturer’s offer ninety days to a single-year warranties for appliances for the home. After that period, the company isn’t responsible whether or not the unit malfunctions or breaks down. Which is where a long warranty is useful.

Most manufacturers will give you the extended warranty in the course of selling the appliance while some others may offer the warranty through the entire 1st year before the original warranty expires. An extended warranty may last for one year or five years based on the manufacturer. You might have to pay less should you buy the warranty for an extended time frame. Although extended warranties could have not been advisable two decades ago, they are today. Today’s appliances are usually sensitive as a result of latest advancements in technology. The latest units have computer boards which are highly sensitive. These are a lot more expensive when compared to appliances sold two decades ago. On the other hand, some appliances for example refrigerators and automatic washers will cost more than $3,000 a piece. The various components over these machines can disintegrate easily because of their sensitivity. This is why an extended warranty is vital.

Most service calls on refrigerators and automatic washers range between $200 to $400 today. One to two calls and you have made up the cost of the extended warranty. Experts recommend purchasing extended warranties for appliances that are more expensive than $600-800. Often times this kind of purchase could be a waste of cash. By way of example, if you opt for an appliance for $350 and must pay $200 for your warranty, this is a waste of your hard-earned money. The customer should decide whether or not to buy a prolonged warranty when purchasing household appliances. You have to be cautious about pushy salespeople when looking for household appliances. These are important things to consider when expending hard-earned cash on household appliances.

The aforementioned article provides information on why you need to buy a long warranty when selecting household appliances.
