Settlers from Kentucky and Tennessee came to the Richardson area in the 1840s. Through the 1850s the settlement was located around the present-day site of Richland College. After the Civil War a railroad was built northwest of the original settlement, shifting the village’s center closer to the railroad. Richardson was chartered in 1873, and the town was named after the secretary of the Houston & Texas Central Railroad, Alfred S. Richardson.
In 1908, the Texas Electric Railway an electric railway known as the Interurban, connected Richardson to Denison, Waco, Corsicana and Dallas. In 1910 the population was approximately 600. A red brick schoolhouse was built in 1914 and is now the administrative office for the Richardson Independent School District. In 1924 the Red Brick Road, the present-day Greenville Avenue, was completed. The completion of the road brought increased traffic, population and property values. Most manufacturers will offer the extended warranty at the time of selling the appliance while some others may supply the warranty through the first year prior to the original warranty expires. Alternatively, some appliances such as refrigerators and automatic washers will cost more than $3,000 a piece. The parts over these machines can break down easily because of the sensitivity. This is why a lengthy warranty is essential.

Most service calls on refrigerators and automatic washers range from $200 to $400 today. One to two calls and you have made up the buying price of the extended warranty. Experts recommend purchasing extended warranties for appliances that are more expensive than $600-800. Occasionally this sort of purchase could be a waste of cash. For example, if you buy an appliance for $350 and must pay $200 for the warranty, it is actually a waste of the hard-earned money. The customer should decide whether or not to buy an extended warranty when purchasing household appliances. You need to be wary of pushy salespeople when shopping for household appliances.
